How does your breath influence your life and how can breathwork help you?

Journaling

First of all, Breathwork is simply the conscious work with your own breath. “Conscious” because we all breathe continuously, but most of the time we do it unconsciously and thus completely miss out on the positive effects that breathing can have on our lives. In this blog article, I want to explain in detail why working with your own breath is so important.

You may have noticed that in moments when you are very stressed (for example during an argument with someone or when giving a presentation), your breathing is very shallow and you might get the feeling that you run out of air quickly. Our life and a current situation can have a strong effect on our breathing.

At the same time, we can also consciously control our breathing and thus influence our lives and everyday life. Most of the time, though, we do not use this potential of our breathing at all – maybe also because we are not really aware of it.

Therefore again:

Our breathing has a HUGE INFLUENCE on our life and wellbeing! We can strengthen our performance, reduce our stress level, optimize our health and increase our life expectancy – ultimately we can transform our entire life!

How exactly does that work? It’s all related to our nervous system and how our brain works.

Our autonomic nervous system, which regulates all autonomous functions of our body, consists of two parts:

1. The sympathetic nervous system (SNS), which i.e. is known for activating the „Fight or Flight“ mode and becomes active in all kinds of stressful situations and

2. the parasympathetic nervous system (PNS), which counteracts or balances the reactions of the „fight or flight“ mode and helps us to calm down after a stressful situation.

Through our breathing we send information to our brain, to which our nervous system reacts by triggering corresponding reactions in us (feelings, thoughts, perceptions etc). This means that through conscious breathing exercises we can decrease the activity of the SNS or increase the activity of the PNS.

Put simply, this means that we can change the information that is sent to our brain through our breathing and thereby influence and control our feelings, perceptions, thoughts and behaviors!

So with breathwork and the focus on our breath, we can calm our minds, relax in stressful moments, and even make us feel safe and loved. On the other hand, we can increase our energy level or our ability to concentrate with specific breathing exercises.

And it goes further! Certain breathing techniques such as the “Conscious Connected Breathing” or “Rebirthing” techniques can contribute to your personal growth and inner healing – to the holistic transformation of your body, your heart and your soul.

It might sound a bit crazy to you at first, if you have never heard of this, but breathwork definitely has the power to transform your life! You can work on topics in your life, dissolve blockages that hold you back and heal old wounds.

During a classic breathwork session, you generate an above-average amount of energy within your body. Your body uses this energy, for example, to release existing blockages and heal wounds from your past.

For me, breathwork is an incredibly powerful tool that can help you to dive deeper into your individual healing process and to learn to feel safe and free within yourself again!

For me, breathwork is the tool with which we can change the world!

Because it changed my world.

I am so grateful that I discovered Breathwork for myself during my time in Brighton!

Since July 2020 I have been training to become a breathwork facilitator. It is an incredible privilege for me to use this tool in my work and to be able to help other people with it!

If you would also like to experience the life-changing effects of breathwork, please feel free to reach out to me via email at hallo@svenjatasler.com.

I look forward to accompanying you on your personal breathwork journey.

Did you already have experience with breathwork? Feel free to tell us about it in the comments below.

All the best,

Why Yawning is so important…
Why Yawning is so important…

Yawning is a natural reflex that in our society is associated with tiredness and boredom. But there is much more to it than that! In this article, I share with you what yawning is, why it’s so important for our bodies, and how it helps us connect with other people.
